A Lady & a Hat

A short collection I designed a while ago. On arriving in Australia I realised just how powerful the South-eastern sun is and thought a few summer dresses complete with a hat would be a suitable look for the season.

Lady in Black Chanel

A recent work... not entirely finished, I'm not sure I should post it yet but perhaps if I don't tell you the areas that are still unfinished they won't bother you quite as much as they bother me.

Oil on Canvas, 30cm x 40cm

The Winter Project

A few winter outfits, designed after finding myself in Joburg in winter for longer than expected and realizing I had very little in the line of warm clothing after years of desert living.

The Joburg Lady

My husband and I have been in the process of moving from Dubai to Australia. We stopped over for what was supposed to be a three week holiday in South Africa to visit family. However because our visas didn't come through quite as early as expected, our time in Joburg was happily extended by six weeks. At first frustrating, as we didn't have any idea when we would suddenly have to pack up and fly off, but after a while we settled into family life and enjoyed working on a few little creative projects.
Here is the process of a painting I did while in Joeys.

Underpainting: a light purple colour with reference image.

First step: sketch and backround.

First primary - ultramarine blue lowlights.

A bit of warm (cadmium) red.

Added the last of the primary's (yellow) and then some more lowlights and highlights, touches of light blues and pinks.

More skin detail and bold colour.

Eyes and mouth properly placed, nose still needs work.

Almost done, hat slightly unfinished.

Final touch - signature.

Costumes

Feeling so inspired by Anna Cordingley's costume designs: http://stcblog.posterous.com/threepenny-costume-designer-anna-cordingley-o

Trying not to have a meltdown at the moment as I think about all the things I LOVE doing and how to fit them all into one life. Most definitely I am rendered ineffective when I try to do them all... just start with something - one thing.

An Individual

Here is one of the latest works to leave my brush. I hope it is somewhat enjoyed.

Lume II

Another early morning spent discovering an abandoned building sight plus a tutu and the most phenomenal photographer on the planet and the result was a little hardcore, ethereal magic... I think. Here is Lume II.

Lume

So I have been doing a fitness program called GloryGirl designed by a wonderful friend of mine who's aim is to help woman glorify God through every aspect of their lives including the bodies that God has given them. I went into it with the goals of building up my fitness and confidence to get back into dancing full-time and learning how to cook clean healthy meals. Some background here for those who don't know me... in one whole year of marriage I believe I cooked about two whole meals, 'culinary-ly challenged'! Now I can proudly say that I CAN cook! And secretly I even enjoy it. The GloryGirl fitness program culminates in a photo shoot where you get to record your achievement. I tried to turn the shoot into more of a dancing shoot, since that was the reason I began this little journey, however, there are a couple of shmodel pics in between, please forgive me? With my husbands legendary photographic skills, here are a few of the results.
